Happy new year, Kai! And thanks for this video - beautiful, awesome lions, doing the only kind of pole dancing I want to see. Did you see even their ears flicking? Amazing work, the dancers/acrobats and the designers of the lions both.
May the year of the rat brings opportunity, generosity, and success to all.

Thanks, Theriomorph! Aren't the lions great? Lion dances just make me happy. It was always my favorite part of Chinese New Year celebrations when I was a boy; firecrackers, lion dancing, drums and cymbals, dumplings and desserts, money in red envelopes...it's just all good. Traditional lion heads have two strings on the inside, one bats the eyelids and the other flips the ears; there's a whole craft to bringing it all to life, so the best lion dancers aren't only amazing acrobats but also express an incredible playfulness through their movements.
Here's to health, prosperity, and joy in the coming year!

I didn't know about the strings - going to have to watch it again and see if I can see the eyelids. They're SO playful and joyful. I love it.
And, ooo, dumplings. Here's to mad dumplings in the coming year. ; )
